Welcome to an 'inch of difference'. "This inch in which we live." Richard Neville, Oz, 1971.
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I don't know if it is true but there was a report that a young white woman whose family had lived in Luton for 3 generations was told by a Muslim girl that she was no longer welcome there, that Luton was now a Muslim area.
ReplyDeleteEven if that wasn't true, it won't be very much longer before it is.
How long before people in Horton-cum-Studley or Moreton-in-Marsh are made to feel like strangers in their own towns?
If Labour stayed in office I'd give it 5/6yrs before they noticed anything but since the Cons will be in at the next GE it will probably give them a bit of extra time.
ReplyDeleteAs for the report of the girl and her family - if it wasn't true of her it was probably true of someone else. I'm beginning to wonder where the line is drawn between cynic, realist and pessimist.
Edgar, in fairness rotten kids say ridiculous hateful things to people all the time - racist kid from racist family is nothing new
ReplyDeleteNow, if there was a mob with pitchforks on her front door..
...or a mob throwing stones at buses?
ReplyDelete2nd successive night of attacks
