"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

176 And Counting

It's been a very bad week for our Armed Forces:

News is coming in of another soldier killed today near Gereshk, Helmand Province. All we know at the moment is that he served in the Light Dragoons.

Lt Col Rupert Thorneloe, 39, CO the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards
Trooper Joshua Hammond, 18, of 2nd Royal Tank Regiment
Lance Corporal David Dennis, 29, of the Light Dragoons
Private Robert Laws, 18, of 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment
Lance Corporal Dane Elson, 22, of 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
Another, as yet, un-named British soldier from 22 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers, died alongside two Canadian troops in a helicopter crash in Zabul Province on Monday.

It's time this rotten govt told us why this 'loss of life' is worth it.   We're faced with a dichotomy: supporting the troops does not mean supporting the war.  Does it?

  1. Tragic loss of life to keep Gordon Obama's bestest friend.

  2. And Bob Ainsworth is a useless waste of space.

  3. You'll not see any of the bastards responsible meeting the coffins or going to the funerals.

    The Penguin

  4. No, never Penguin, unless it's a photo-opp.
