"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

BBC Pays £45k 'Damages' to MCB

Muhammed Abdul-Bari, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain, is to be paid £45,000 by the BBC for remarks made by Charles Moore in a March edition of Question Time - about 2.58 in:

The BBC are, in effect, admitting that Moore's comments that the MCB don't speak out strongly enough against public order offences committed by some Muslims who, eg advocate the killing of British soldiers, are libellous. He also said the MCB had a bogus leadership, are not moderate, are given lots of government money and people have had enough of them. Seems like fair comment to me, not libel.

There are too many unanswered questions here: why is the BBC falling over itself to placate the MCB when no court case has even been brought? Why is the money going to Abdul Bari personally? Charles Moore is a respected journalist - what are his views on this development? Will he pursue the matter with the BBC? It just doesn't add up.

  1. Welcome to the 21st century compensation culture. And we've only got ourselves to blame.

Let's all say we are male lesbian muslims and sue the BBC for the hell of it.

  2. It's only licence payers' money. What does the BBC care so long as it placates the apologists of terror?

  4. The BBC labeled the Muslim protesters as "anti-war" protesters contrary to every other MSM outlet. Talk about bending over for PC.

  5. That's true 13th - they're a joke but we're the ones paying the price with a lack of real information and dumb programmes.
