"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Brown: Stop The World

Gordon Brown has called on developing nations to sign up to a pledge to limit global warming to 2 deg.C Meanwhile, away from the mind-expanding G8 pleasure-palace, we have this at EU Referendum:
For the moment though, with nine down and one to go before the orgy commences, the agenda still seems stuck where it has been for years, with very little progress.

But, when the bell tolls for the 179th – which can only be a matter of days, if not sooner – we could perhaps reflect that we owe it to those who have died, those many more who have been injured, and those who put themselves in harm's way, that we owe them all a little more than a few tired old mantras, and a bucket-full of political opportunism.

  1. It's exceptionally sad GV all these unnecessary deaths. My heart bleeds for the families left behind.

Will Cameron be better? I doubt it.

  2. In fairness, the Cons do have a better track record at funding our Armed Forces SR. I suppose the fact that we don't have any money at all and are just printing it at the moment will restrict their natural instinct. I mean, just look at the Coffee House debt counter whizz round - it's terrifying. Btw, where does Alec Salmond stand on funding for the UK's Armed Forces?
