"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

By Their Deeds You Shall Know Them*

Gordon Brown has said that the government will do everything it can to protect the armed forces in Afghanistan, and stressed the importance of the international community seeing through its commitment there. Speaking at the conclusion of the G8 summit, he said:
“We cannot allow southern Afghanistan and the border areas of Pakistan to become lawless areas. People in Britain today are safer because of the courageous sacrifices of British soldiers in Afghanistan. It is vital that the international community sees through its commitment. The security of all our citizens depends on it. We will do everything we can to protect our forces. We are doing what we can to equip our forces in the best way possible.”
He also expressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers who have died in Afghanistan in recent days, saying: “It’s at times like these...that we remember the debt we owe to our armed forces. Our thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives.”

Shameless no-mark, no-conscience scuzz-bucket.

*I'm not one for biblical quotes but the one in the header seems to suit Brown and his cohorts down to the ground.

[I'm having lots of probs with Blogger, Google and the internet in general today so you'll just have to imagine a 'No Pavement Pizza Here' sign.]

  1. Sympathies. I had a bad blogger day yesterday. 'Twas on a go-slow.

Gordon sleaze-bucket Brown doesn't have a conscience - just a political compass. Don't lose sleep over it.

  2. At least the connection is back again. I won't be losing sleep over Brown but the state of the country, the EU, the IMF, the European Systemic Risk Council - that's something else ;)
