"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Mon Ami

We discover today that Gordon speaks three languages: gobbledegook; claptrap and ... French. What's more, he's managed to combine two of them in one sentence:

"President Sarkozy, mon ami, you are truly a force of nature."

Following a meeting with Sarkozy, Brown gave us his version of the Kipling poem: "If we can get growth, if we can get unemployment down, if we can keep interest rates and inflation down, then there is scope to do the things we want to do, and that is to get money to the frontline services," referring to the need to avoid pay and job cuts in the public sector. [Note: Public sector.]

Both Brown and Sarkozy declared support for each other's economic policies yesterday prior to the G8 free lunch, sorry, Summit.

  1. Very funny, GV, I hope after the general election WE never have to see anything like it again.

  2. Now look here, what are you doing finishing that clip with those old guys? I look nothing like that. Furthermore, Matey, Jimmy did not say Sarky was a "force of nature" he said "you make people wish to answer a call of nature, just like me, only they vomit instead."
    Great post, well done!

  4. There are three fundamental forces of nature. It's unlikely that McBroon thinks of Sarkozy as the electroweak force or as the force of gravity, so our democratic PM thinks Sarkozy is The Strong Nuclear Force. Makes a kind of sense, but what does it say about us?

  5. Perhaps he meant S is a mini-whirlwind? Or perhaps it's a typo in the original report and it should read "farce of nature".

  6. Yes indeed ... it is a depressing thing to watch the Congress of the United States in session.
