"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

If You're English & You Know It...

...clap your hands... and then sign this petition on the No.10 website which begins:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to bring forward legislation requiring all candidates standing for any elected political office in England (whether as MP, Councillor or MEP), to sign ‘The English Claim of Right’ so as to show their loyalty, affection and dedication to the English people.
Here's the link but please note that it's best not to put a message after your name since it makes it more likely to be deleted.

Actually, I suspect we have a fair few Scottish friends out there who might like to see the back of us for their own reasons so they're welcome to contribute too.

If you're interested in knowing more about the English Claim of Right there's an icon in the sidebar - just click and it will take you to their site. There's also a link in the blogroll to the Witanagemot Club of which I'm a member, but either they or I have problems with the RSS feed because it doesn't automatically update as it should and just languishes at the bottom of the list.

  1. Auch GV, that's not true. I don't want to see the back of you. I think we could be the most amiable neighbours imaginable, independent of each other.

  2. Given the circumstances, that would be my wish too, SR. I hope you signed :)

  3. I wish the English would grow a fucking backbone, declare their pride in their identity, promote their culture, and refuse to be a fucking doormat for whoever turns up demanding entry.

That's the kind of English neighbour Scotland needs.

  5. Good for you Edgar, spread it around. As Scunnert says, it's about time we English found our backbone. I'm sick of every TD&H telling me there's no such place as England and no such thing as English.
