"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

MPs Try To Hijack Kelly Inquiry

As we all know, Sir Christopher Kelly’s Committee on Standards in Public Life invited the public and politicians to submit their views before publication of a report that's expected to propose radical reforms.

As a result, the inquiry has been bombarded by MPs' complaints about their 'miserable lifestyles, media intrusion, the inadequacy of existing allowances' — along with repeated demands for a hefty pay rise.

Public Servants - don'cha just luv'em? Whoring chutzpah and brass-necked insensitivity doesn't come close.

  1. "Whoring chutzpah and brass-necked insensitivity doesn't come close."

Didn't realise you were on such knowledgeable terms with my MP, GV!

  2. :) Hi OR - you'd think they'd have the sense and common decency to lie low for a while wouldn't you?

  3. Under the circumstances, GV, it is the right thing to do.

  4. Nooooo Edgar - like you, that's a phrase I can't stand to hear. It makes me want to put a picture of Ed Balls on the dartboard and practise double bulls.
