"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Patten Throws Hat Into EU Ring

Lord Patten of Barnes (Chris Patten), former Governor of Hong Kong and ex-EU Commissioner, has expressed interest in becoming the EU Foreign Minister if/when the Lisbon Treaty comes into full effect.

Despite the Treaty still having a few minor obstacles (Czech Republic, Poland, Germany and Ireland) many of its provisions are already in place with a view to immediate implementation. The Europhiles don't like to take 'No' for an answer and horse-trading for the top positions has already begun.
UPDATE: Jobs for the boys: Joschka Fischer has the support of his old pal, Danny the Red (Daniel Cohn-Bendit)
