"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

  1. "At the next election, parliamentary authorities expect about 200 to quit." That's from all parties.

I can't help feeling that most of the ones who will be going will be reasonably competent and talented people who are confident of their ability to thrive in the private sector. The 464 who remain, then, would be the useless, feckless, witless, dishonest, and lazy ones.

Who'd have thought there would be as many as 200 who could make an honest living?

  2. I hope you're wrong but that's the worry E, that we'll be losing the experienced hands who've just had enough of the job as well as some of the feckless who've announced their resignation as a resuslt of the troughing affair.
