"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Brown Rallies [A Few Of] The Troops

  1. Not exactly barnstorming. His climax was 'Let's win that fight', a plea if ever I heard one, but a plea to let him continue, I think, rather than a plea to beat the Conservatives. Rapturous applause? Standing ovation? No, and no.

They're sunk and everyone, including Brown, knows it. This is just going through motions.

  2. The lights are on but not many are at home. The Gordon show, sorry, the Labour conference has been amusing, very amusing but unintentionally so. Much to Labour's embarrassment.

  3. The big one's still to come - that was just a pathetic welcome speech. Mandelson put some fight into them this afternoon so now it's not just Brown who's delusional.
