"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

'England Belongs To Me'

This video is doing the rounds of the internet now. It's put together by the English Defence League (EDL) who were involved in today's disturbances in Birmingham.  The EDL and 'Casuals Utd' seem to be pulling together the fierce loyalty of football fans to their clubs and channelling it against radical Islamic extremism. Indian Summer of Rage anyone?

With thanks to Harry Hook at The Final Redoubt for the original video.

The video is only 1.36 long but from what it shows it was the UAF making the most noise and being arrested. Perhaps more will come to light tomorrow.

UPDATE: Original video removed by YouTube - this is a replacement.

  1. To my knowledge... this has happened about 3 times in Birmingham in as many months, so it is becoming a regular fixture. These are just friendlies, each side sizing the other up before the big match.

  2. I wouldn't be surprised at that. I've just been across to the EDL site to have a look at what's making them tick - I'm none the wiser, maybe I'm just up past my bedtime & it will all be clearer in the morning!
