"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

The People Have Become Complacent

From John Redwood:

"Two years ago in the Economic Policy Review we warned that immediate decisions were needed to allow the construction of new power stations. If not, the lights would go out before the end of the decade. Today we learn that the government’s own forecasts include the assumption there will be power cuts before the decade is out. They have failed to do what government has to do to allow a new generation of power stations to arise. Meanwhile they have signed up to EU directives which entail closing old power stations before we have the replacements. They clearly do wish to leave a comprehensive mess in all departments."
