"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Post Of The Week

Secrets & Lies by Old Rightie.

Extract:
"The trouble is we now enter a murky world of underhand trading of arms, murder and intrigue. Inevitably Governments become part of this and the size of these deals suddenly become like huge banks. Too big to fail. It must then follow that a nation's wealth must become tied to arms manufacture on such a scale, that freedoms have to go, if they threaten this juggernaut... ...Government has become a sales organisation first and a Government of propriety and honesty last.. ...These arms end up as the toys of repression by Dictators and sundry despots and mad men. They kill Sudanese, Angolans, Tamils and Tibetans, British and NATO troops. So it goes on."
In the above graphic note the high percentage of countries simply described as "Other".

  3. You've put in lots of hard work this week OR - don't be flattered, you deserve it. Your spider's web of connections between govts, arms dealers, banks and businesses should be more widely publicised.

It's something we all worry about but very few actually do anything to uncover the trails - you did it.
