"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Barroso & A Weak PM

EU Observer, Brussels – European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso says a future permanent president of the European Council must be able to stand up to member states that seek to pursue their own interests.

Quite right too. It wouldn't do for the "actors/citizens/stakeholders" (that's people like you and me) in "member states" to wonder what happened to sovereign nations would it? That might cause them a bit of a headache.

So, when Lisbon is fully ratified by all 27 countries and the President of the EC is installed, all good European countries must only be able to elect weak leaders who are susceptible to rolling over before the supranational state.

  1. For me, too. No referendum, no vote.

  2. It's ridiculous Edgar. No one can now deny what the EU is or how it has been building slowly for decades. All the information we need to know is in plain sight.
