"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Fatuous Question Of The Day

Anita Anand on the Daily Politics: "Unemployment is up again but at a lower rate than expected. Does this mean we are turning the corner?"

The Daily Politics Live Chat at 11.30am & PMQs from 12.00noon.  Link to Live Parliament.

  1. Ah, yes: it was only (say) 23,000 this week, much less than the 27,000 we were expecting. That's all right, then. As long as we can keep 'expecting' larger numbers than actually occur, we can't be doing anything wrong.

That kind of logic is not merely 'fatuous', GV, it is deliberately deceitful.

  2. Labour logic is all we have at the moment Edgar; our lives are ruled by it. Deliberately deceitful indeed.
