"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Psychiatry & Authoritarianism

Given the experiences outlined on FTAC Watch, here's a timely but short video from G Edward Griffin:

This alliance between psychiatry and police states is not limited to China, Cuba or Uzbekistan, all of which currently employ psychiatric incarceration of citizens for political protest. In the UK, a specialized unit called the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre has been granted the authority to incarcerate anyone that has given inappropriate or threatening communications to a member of government into a psychiatric ward. The assessment teams are made up of police, psychiatrists and psychologists who have been given the authority to evaluate, accuse and detain anyone considered a threat into a mental facility — indefinitely.

  3. What's the difference between Socialism & Totalitarianism? A lot.

Totalitarianism can arise out of any political system - all that is required is that folks give an inch.

As to the corrupt use of psychiatry for political ends - when I was younger homosexuality was classed as a major psychiatric illness. A few years ago there was an attempt to have coffee addiction included in the DSM IV.

Now-a-days psychiatrists don't even give diagnosis - but treat "symptoms" with major psychotropics. Tardive dyskinesia is going to be an epidemic in another decade.

  4. Agreed Scunnert, communism is generally ascribed to the left and fascism to the right - both are authoritarian which is why I deliberately chose that word. I now know more about tardive dyskinesia than I did before you commented. Ritalin is the contemporary scourge of the young - do you know whether that has similar effects?

  5. So that's where he got to! Thanks Mr Swiss, that's a heck of a headline. I woke up in far too serious a mood this morning and it was just the distraction I needed :)
