"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

A Compliant Media

This editorial will be published tomorrow by 56 newspapers around the world in 20 languages including Chinese, Arabic and Russian. The text was drafted by a Guardian team during more than a month of consultations with editors from more than 20 of the papers involved. Like the Guardian most of the newspapers have taken the unusual step of featuring the editorial on their front page.

"Tomorrow 56 newspapers in 45 countries take the unprecedented step of speaking with one voice through a common editorial. We do so because humanity faces a profound emergency."  So speaks the Grauniad.  Some of the comments:

"hahaha
"Put faith in the climate scientists" who have been hiding the decline, TRICKING the data and smearing other scientists and refusing FOI requests.....ummmmm, let me think about that for a moment........no thanks...."

"I would not believe it even if 560 newspapers published a common editorial. Scam is a scam no matter how many papers print it."

"The debate is over. It IS a media conspiracy."

"Passivity is no longer an option. Silence is no longer an option. Propaganda is no longer an option. Disinformation is no longer an option. As of today, wednesday, the 11th of November 2009, you will start to write, tell and show us the truth."
UPDATE: It's interesting to see how many comments have been deleted from the Guardian editorial since last night. That sort of thing just makes me dig my heels in even more.

  1. Not just a media conspiracy, but a scientific, governmental, environmental and media conspiracy.

They lied to us, they're still lying to us, but the truth will out and their "consensus" is cracking under the strain.

  2. A scam is a scam. Correct. A BIG scam, this one.

  3. Hi QM, you're right, they'll be signing cheques like it's gone out of fashion. Have you seen this from Incoming? It's a letter doing the rounds in Sweden at the moment - sent to all msm outlets:

    We need something similar here.

  4. A huge scam JPT - war on terror, war on climate change, I wonder what the next one will be - or maybe they won't need another one.

  5. New ice age Vienna? It'll cost you though.

  6. A new ice age? Even I might protest against that :-)

  7. Jings GV, their efforts at brainwashing are becoming similar to the USSR.

Had some woman from Greenland on TV earlier promoting GW and saying WE NEED MONEY TO REBUILD OUR HOMES. (Sorry can't do bold here).

Her statement said it all. She supported this rubbish because she could get millions for her community.

Made me taste my dinner again, so it did.

  8. Like we would believe anything we read in a newspaper... any newspaper.

Well obviously except the News of the World.

    Is Jordan really that haggared?

  9. 5,000 media whores attending CO2penhagen, they have to justify their expenses somehow.

  10. Hi SR, from Greenland to Papua New Guinea they're all holding their hands out for 'compensation' and threatening increased immigration. It's a monumental wealth distribution programme with the slight problem that the UK is broke.

Welcome Tris, you're right. If we believed everything we read in the newspapers we'd be dumbed-down sheeple. Whoops! I read the NotW article - making something out of nothing. I thought the Times article was better and complimentary to SR.

I can't stand the thought of two weeks of this Banned but with all the media joining in there's nowhere I can go to avoid it. Radio news this morning repeated the latest poll that 50% of us don't believe in MMGW - much good that will do us.

  11. These newspapers deserve to sink, GV. There was talk in the US of bailing out the newspapers. No doubt, the prospect of losing its mouthpieces galled the government.

Gordon Brown would love to nationalise newspapers. He'll not get his hands on the Sun, though!

  12. I certainly wouldn't pay online subscription to access the Guardian Fausty. I only read it for the laughs anyway. With the connivance of the big media corps they may just as well be nationalised at the moment - they all have their own perspectives and you have to read a broad spectrum to get a flavour of debate and then do some digging of your own to get close to the truth. Investigative journalism died years ago. I don't know how people manage who read only one newspaper.

  13. Somewhere deep in all this will be the Bigerbergers' accountants!

  14. I'm with you, GV, there is no way in this world or the next that I would ever pay to read the self-righteous propaganda by twats like Michael Shite in the Grauniad!
