"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Shelter From The Storm

This is what 'globalisation' has brought us; there has to be a better way of co-operating.

Homework for tonight: write an essay (not exceeding 250 words) on the subject of Globalisation -v- Appeasement.

A while back there was mention of EU Ministers sitting in our govt's Cabinet meetings. Today we have a revised proposal of MEPs advising MPs on the Foreign Affairs Committee and sitting in the House of Commons at least once a year.

I fully agree but it's not about co-operating, GV, it's about corruption and power.

  2. Those 'developing' countries that have embraced globalisation have generally been rewarded with increasing prosperity and usually increasing liberty or at least less oppression
    South Korea
    Hong Kong
    Singapore
    Malaya
    India
    China
    The Gulf
Those that have not languish in poverty and oppression
    North Korea
    Zimbabwe
    Cuba

If Europe were really interested in expanding globalism to eradicate third world poverty it would scrap the obscene CAP which is just a protection racket for small French farmers at the expense of third world food producers.
Why would MEPs bother themselves to sit in on our Foreign Affairs Committee when all our Foreign Relations needs are decided by disgraced Cafe Ashtray?
