"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Live Chat: Liars & Lobbyists + Update

If you're thinking of watching the Dispatches investigation this evening Ollie at the Red Rag will be hosting a live chat at 8pm.

UPDATE:  Speechless really.  By rights Hoon should be finished.  Byers didn't fare much better, Moran is a guilty-as-charged waste of space and Hewitt was very careful in her choice of words.   Hubris, arrogance, bravado, inflated ego, self-promotion ...  WATCH HERE  There comes a point when you just get beyond anger.  Sir John Butterfill (the only Conservative) and Baroness Morgan also showed the seamy side of their characters.  What a shameful bunch of scrotes.

  1. Hell, GV what do you expect from a bunch of lying, venal group of self-preserving bunch of bastards such as the present incumbents?

They should be barred from holding any sort of pubic office for life, plus losing their pensions and leaving payments.

we need a 'Cromwellian' clear out and their being met with the walls of Parliament and an AK47 - seriously!

We could solve all this by total devolution of power back to the people, parliament with half the present nbr of MPs meeting just once or so every month to deal with defence, foreign policy, immigration etc and leave the rest of us to rule ourselves.

Remember Woolfie Smith and Power to the People???

  2. GV I watched and looked and if it wasn't for the fact I'd got a copy of Transformers 2 whioch I stole from a small boy loaded to watch soon, the telly would have hit the streets.

We are having the piss taken out of us massively. This all plays straight into the discrediting UK insitutions script.

So being me I'm suspicious of reporter/broadcaster as well.

  3. Mr W, the worst thing is that many people are simply apathetic now and won't be voting at all at the GE. I do agree that we need a radical shift - Swiss or Icelandic referenda should have a bigger part to play but we won't get it because of the EU. First we need to escape.

Funnily enough Stoker, this morning I found myself wondering about the production company and their own contacts. You're right about institutions: every pillar of the country is being undermined from financial to democratic, from industry to education. All it does is turn people off from politics leaving tptb to get on quietly with their job without interference and mass protestation.

  4. Thank heavens for Dispatches. The careers of these toe rags are surely over. Hopefully, the programme will set MPs and peers thinking. Alas, I fear they will just be more careful in future.

Thanks for holding the fort, GV!
