"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Troughers In Camera

The legally-aided MPs charged under the Theft Act were due to  appear at Southwark Crown Court today to argue that preliminary proceedings should be held in camera.  Lawyers for Morley, Devine & Chaytor  are arguing that the MPs will not get a fair hearing if the defence argument of Parliamentary Privilege under the 1689 Bill of Rights is heard in public.

Objections were raised by media lawyers but since I can't find a mention of it in today's press I suppose they failed and the three will have the preliminary hearings made in camera after all.

  1. Hi Sophia, yes, it's amazing. Arrogance and a sense of entitlement oozes out of them. I mean, it's not as if we haven't already hung, drawn and quartered the thieving toerags, metaphorically speaking ;-)

  2. I've been looking for this too, so now I know why I haven't been able to find anything in the papers.

  3. Yes, it's funny how all the sleaze is off the front pages and negative reports due to be published by govt have been held off until after the election. And still some people don't think we're being lied to and manipulated. Sometimes I can't decide who's living in a bubble, us or the politicians!
