"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Of Rape, Pillage & Plunder

The Vikings had nothing on the combined efforts of the EU.  The Vikings came, battled, won, lost, stole, kidnapped, married, settled, assimilated, started families and eventually became English. Ah, the good old days - you knew where you were with a good old-fashioned rape, pillage and plunder that was signalled from beacon to beacon.

Nowadays the invaders just sneak in through the back door which has been left ajar for them by a succession of sneaky, traitorous bastards in government. Since the Lisbon Treaty was declared legal (by the EU itself, despite knowing it wasn't *) at the beginning of the year everything I hoped for has happened in that it's now becoming impossible to deny the number of fingers in our British pie, with the blessed exception of the News channels of course, who still find it rather difficult to refer to the EU except in some tangential way.

Everybody knows we are being raped every which way, our infrastructure is pillaged and our private sector is being plundered by unelected no-marks. A portion of our taxes is hived off and sent abroad, thought not openly acknowledged, but this isn't enough for them; the EU wants a regular income and is looking to harmonise taxation with a ring-fenced amount specifically for their use. It's all to make their book-keeping a little bit easier given the problems they've had with the auditors over the past thirteen years.

Look around you now. Listen to the news now. What do you see and what do you hear? These are the symptoms of being ruled by statute and directive by an unelected 'quango' in a foreign country. For every measure our new coalition govt announces there's a reason why it can't be done and that reason comes from either the ECJ or the EC (ECHR has nothing to do with the EU so we can leave that until another day).

The NHS, immigration, financial services, transport, telecommunications, energy, social attitudes, criminal justice - absolutely everything that affects us is decided in Brussels/Strasbourg and Cameron/Clegg are their helpmates with a televisual smile: Cameron=Blair; Clegg=Brown.

It's late.

Most countries have a Constitutional Court like Germany's.  Our politicians and government tell us that we don't have a Constitution and therefore need to write one in order to have a Constitutional Court.  They're lying.   We do have a Constitution, we gave it and our laws to the world; we don't need to' harmonise' with the constitutions of petty, warring European factions.  Perhaps the EU would like to harmonise with a pre-1972 Britain?  That way we'd all be free, sovereign nations.
