"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Govts Collude In Spread Of Halal Food

It's interesting to learn that 'Quick', the second largest halal burger chain in France, is owned by the state and that profits are suspected of being diverted to terrorist causes. The politician who spearheaded a campaign against it serving halal meat was charged with hate speech but later acquitted by the court. The horror of British MPs on learning that they have also been eating halal food is mentioned - I wonder whether the MPs have managed to exclude it from their cafes/restaurants yet?

Probably sold it on to Tesco.

  2. If they've managed to ban it from the HoP food chain they've kept it pretty quiet, OR. I did a trawl this afternoon and couldn't find anything - perhaps they've all stopped eating at their subsidised outlets?

Call me sceptical but it was probably just a media-friendly pre-alarm so we'll all be primed to welcome the EU's new labelling laws this year and applaud our MPs as pro-active heros. Expect the libservatives to take a bow and take the credit for any change to English labelling laws. We can also expect that the small print doesn't do what it says on the tin.

    'Tesco'?
