"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

The EDL March & Other News + Video Update

We can hope the march, which began at 12.30pm,  passes peacefully ... but we know it won't.  The UAF/Socialist Workers, the Muslim Defence Leage and Muslims against Crusades will also be there.  I don't understand why the police gave permission for this counter-demonstration - they must know it will create tension and flashpoints.

So far as I know, Cameron is still signed up to the anti-British UAF but Labour MP Sadiq Khan has now accused him of writing propaganda material for the EDL.  The UAF will milk this for all it's worth.

Here's how three newspapers are reporting Cameron's Munich speech about being tough on Islamic extremists and failed multi-culturalism:

The Guardian
The Daily Telegraph
The Daily Mail
Of the three, only the Daily Mail is allowing comments.

What Cameron said:

Here are a couple of links & comments about the march:

Local residents of Luton close to assembly point cheering the EDL, some hanging flags out of windows and shouting support

Also at the above link : "Reports of UAF being attacked by EDL at 'Birmingham services' are false. Misinformation perpetuated by people with a political agenda."

From BBC: EDL leader Stephen Lennon on Cameron speech - "he's now saying what we're saying - he knows his base"

Apparently, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff will be speaking - that's a coup for the EDL.

And if you want to keep an eye on events then Tundra Tabloids/Vlad Tepes will be having what they call "a sort of" rolling blog.

It seems to be quite a busy day for news - here are some other things that caught my eye:

Here's the speech by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff at yesterday's meeting. She really gets into her stride at about 5mins in - there are quite a few interruptions by the crowd:
