"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Friday Post

I know I'm a day late, but I've got a good excuse.

Sig94 says what many people are thinking. Frustrated by public shows of soppy one-world love-ins while dirty double-dealing goes on behind closed doors people are beginning to wonder what it takes to rid the world of murderous scumbags.  Sometimes so-called 'soft power' and incentives to behave just can't cut it.

What I dislike in particular about the right-on Left is the hypocrisy of condemning US "military imperialism" while wringing their hands and wailing that the the pirates and despots of the world won't do as they're asked, every so nicely, pretty please, look we'll give you lots of money.  If the US were to take military reprisals against Somalia I for one wouldn't condemn them but I can think of quite a few mealy-mouthed countries and global talking shops that would.  Being realistic though, they've got Obama now so intervention/reprisals is a non-starter.

Here's a flavour of Sig94's post regarding the murder of four American hostages by Somali pirates.  As usual it's just an extract so please pop over and read the whole thing:
There is a sizeable group of men straining at Hell's Leash who are ready, willing and able to address this problem. They did it once before on the Shores of Tripoli and would love to do it again. Let the Marine Corps do what it does best; deliver the full measure of American indignation to the filthy vermin who are committing these atrocities.

Do it in such a fashion that the Somalis return to basket weaving, fly swatting or whatever the hell they did before they found out they could load rowboats full of thieves and AK-47's to commit mayhem on the high seas against unarmed civilians.

Let the world condemn us in public and bless us in private, we've been there before.

  1. That's precisely the problem with Gadaffi is it not. Those same mealy mouthed lefties bemoaning the fact that 'we' dealt with Gadaffi would have been the first to start yelling 'colonial oppressors' had any Western agency taken him out.

  2. Precisely, Banned - it's between a rock/hard place for the SWP - I think they hope people won't notice their hypocrisy. It's a strategy that's worked well enough for them until now.
