"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Legal Blow For Freegans

Bin-diving, reclaiming damaged or out-of-date food from supermarket dumpsters, has had a setback today with the arrest of a woman who took food that had been thrown out by Tesco.  She was handcuffed, charged with "theft by finding" and her home was searched.
A Tesco spokesman said: 'We are assisting the police with their inquiries. We seek to minimise waste in all our stores and where possible will seek to reuse and recycle it.'
If that's the case, I don't see how this can possibly go to Court; the woman was doing exactly what Tesco say they advocate.  She's due to appear next Wednesday.

  1. In SovieTESCO speak.

"You will not use anything other than GUM for all your needs." Then when you cannot get anything anywhere else they will ensure the shelves are empty."

Or in John Company Commie speak

"You will spend all your stipend at the company store" So you will have no young

    Or in iGREENazi speak

"You will not grow vegetables nor keep fowl" If you do we will kill you.

GV the criminals write the statutes and the criminals enforce them. We live in an iGulag now and unlike Ivan Denisovitch there are no free peoples left to read about our demise.

I'll bet you Tesco's boss was at Davos talking with other GUMstore apparatchicks about how to deal with this sort of non uniformity and counter revolutionary traitor.

  2. Yes, they're blocking off the exits. We must buy food, not grow our own and give surplus to family & neighbours; we must buy the food they manufacture (GMO, halal or not). So many regulations are being introduced in the guise of health & safety that it's becoming well nigh impossible to just live your own life peacably and do your own thing. Our freedom to choose how we live our own lives is being severely hampered by tptb. I hope this woman opts for trial by jury (while we still have that option).

  3. Wasn't there speculation that the Tunisian and Egyptian riots were sparked by local food shortages? There is a need now to establish that food consumption must be controlled and monitored by one's betters. And, of course, "hoarding" (storing away food in case of an emergency or government-caused crisis must be painted as some sort of treasonous act.

Eating from Teso's bin? It's a treasonous act displaying a lack of trust in government.

  4. Well said, Nickie. We've already had idiots advocating food rationing as a way of 'saving the planet'. As you say, buying more than one can of baked beans per family per week will become treasonous if the lefty's have their way. Why can't they just leave us alone? It's power-mad control freakery at its worst and I hope the police are slapped down for arresting & charging this woman. Theft by finding indeed - I wonder when was the last time that was used in a Court.

  5. Tesco are legally obliged to pay to dispose of out of date food as 'industrial waste'. It is illegal for them to give it away or leave it out for beggers.
To be seen to condone the scavenging of such waste food would leave them open to prosecution in much the same way as when my neighbours lad "borrowed" his mums car, despite having no insurance or driving licence, she was obliged to support his prosecution for "theft" or face prosecution herself for allowing it.
What a Soviet Gulag Nation we have become (h/t Incoming!!!!!).

  6. Industrial waste my @rse. Yet another ruling to restrict the choice of people to live their own lives. I didn't realise there was yet another regulation or directive we all must adhere to. No-one ever seems to bother about the knock-on effects of crap legislation and I'm sick of otherwise normal people applauding eu directives on a selective basis.
