"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Ako Ng Pagkayod Sahig Buong Araw

The heading's a google translation so apologies to my reader who speaks Tagalog.

I've had a busy day so thought I'd just post a few quick lines about what it is that makes Great Britain the country it is today.  I'm not sure that any of them need comment from me:

Police "swoop" on daffodil-pickers.  Two little girls, aged six and four, were confronted by two uniformed police officers in a marked squad car after someone reported them for picking daffodils in the park.  I don't know, the Guardian gets more like the DM every day.
Another bloody immigration cock-up  Pemf.
Police "in training for Mumbai-style attack".  That would be right - a few lone extremist nutters get together with a great plan.  It's easy for the criminally-minded to get weapons these days but extremely difficult for the law-abiding to defend themselves.  Protecting the public is supposed to be the work of the Police, but, alas... ... too many shield-shaped stitches in too many heads and too many ignored calls for help.
Basildon Council accused of ethnic cleansing.   "We'll bomb, gas and burn the bailiffs," say innocent, downtrodden minority.
Home Office shambles. Why can't these people earn their salaries and do the job they're paid to do?  We always end up voting in a bunch of incompetents.  Lib/Lab/Con - it makes no difference.

Four from the DM:
The latest on Midsomers.   Seven pages and rising of irate comments.
Mayor cleared of kerb-crawling after pleading he is impotent.  This probably should have a heading of its own.
Another melodramatic headline.  Twelve years in jail for sex-on-the-beat.
'We must save the NHS whatever the cost'.  Must we?

Around the world:
Japan latest.
Bahrain declares 3-month state of emergency.
Germany blocks Libya no-fly zone.

Finally, three cheers for the EU.    They've found their level of competence at last - regulating mobile phone companies.

PS:  It's Filipino for "I've been scrubbing floors all day long." And no, I didn't wear stilettos.

  2. :-) I like what she's wearing though - very practical for scrubbing.
