"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Boo-Hoo

Is anyone up for a spot of Big Society Kettling later this year?

Paul McKeever, chairman of the Police Federation says:
"We are not asking to be treated differently, we are asking to be treated the same. .. We are almost being bullied by a government that is riding roughshod over us."
Don't forget your cameras.  "Angry & disillusioned"

"Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence."  One of the Peelian Principles.

  1. :-) Nice one, GT - that takes me back - kettlo, kettlas, kettlat, kettlamus, kettlatis, kettlant.

Perhaps if there hadn't been so much politicisation of the police over the years they wouldn't have forgotten the principle that the police are the public and the public are the police. They'd now have much more sympathy for their cause.
