"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Farage: Video

Here's Nigel Farage being interviewed on today's Daily Politics. He talks about building UKIP up from grassroots and County Councils - they're fielding 1600 candidates in England on May 5th. The interviewer, Jo Coburn, says that democracy isn't tangible; I think it is, you can taste it, feel it, smell it - and it's something we only have an approximation of at the moment. I favour the Swiss-style of referenda but that's a long way off.

  1. Watched that GV - thought he did very well - considering the "in-built" opposition.

  2. Yes, there's always that to contend with. He usually does do well though - it's good to see him getting more air-time. 1600 candidates is a fair number - I hope they do well against the lib/lab/con con.

  3. I think England will turn the tide, but it will take a while. Nigel is a good start.

  4. Hi Trestin - yes, he is and he's the best on offer at the moment. I hope you're right about turning the tide - viewing us from across the pond you might have a better overview of it than we do.
