"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

'Hard Man Herman'

Like him or loathe him, agree with his politics or not, you have to acknowledge that Nigel Farage of UKIP is one of a handful of MEPs willing to stand up and be counted in the EU Parliament.

"Gadaffi should go," says ex-Maoist Barroso, "although that is not an opinion of member states as such...to be honest, there were some differences in the approach to the situation". Barroso spends 2/3 minutes explaining why it's completely logical to hold opposed views and yet still be in agreement. He also ends up defending Cathy Ashton, something that must have stuck in his craw. Enjoy:

  1. Looking to punt a few quid in Farrage's mob losing all their deposits in Scotland.

    For UKIP read EIP.

No necessarily a bad thing but they really do neep to drop the nonsense that they are a UK party except in their contempt for Scotland and Holyrood. Universal guffaws in Scotland.

  2. I won't take your bet, Lord Snooty.

Devolution to Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland saw the inevitable break-up of what's called the UK but Scottish indepndence is still a long way off given that most Scots want to stay with the Union.

You also have the EU to contend with - perhaps you see yourselves as another Norway or Switzerland? It wasn't that long ago Alec allied you to Ireland and Iceland.

Given that we're still constitutionally tied to each other what other name would you give UKIP?
