"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Sunday Reflection

  1. I grew up on a farm. It's amazing how much things have changed.

  2. And the EU's CAP doesn't help either! I particularly enjoyed the commentator pointing out the "modern" machinery :-) Over here it all seems to be about form-filling, tagging and tracking - farmers seem to have barely enough time to tend the fields any more. Agriculture is a big industry now and there's precious little room for the local little guy. You're right, times have changed.

  3. Brings back many memories - I worked on several farms in my summer school holidays - magic times.

Although, I don't think Health and Safety would approve of this film too much - miserable gits.

  4. No, they wouldn't, BJ - and they certainly wouldn't let children work on farms in their school hols either. Many children don't seem to be allowed to do very much at all these days unless it's for something like the the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
