"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

And Lo! It Came To Pass

(Link)

"The SNP are the story of the night. What can you say? They've decimated Lib Dem support and stolen swathes of Labour seats."

Labour & LibDems suffer

"No longer Labour heartlands but Scottish constituencies."

Best rolling coverage across the country.

I haven't seen any Conservative reaction yet but that from the LibDems has been pretty predictable: Ashdown and Hughes both display petulance - if they do badly (if?) the LibDems will insist on having more of their own way on policy within the Coalition; Chris Huhne, the biggest foot-stamper of them all, says, "This is not the time for a leadership challenge."

Talking of Ashdown - what was this all about last night?

UPDATE: I've just heard on the radio that the turnout in London, where there was only the AV referendum, was around 20-23%. If that sort of turnout was replicated across the country and the voting system was changed as a result, it would be an absolute travesty.
