"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Margaret Thatcher 1925-2013 RIP

Very saddened to learn of the passing of this courageous woman who brought the country back from the brink of catastrophic decline in 1979.  A true Briton.

  1. What a giant compared to today's pygmies.

  2. She was a great spirit and probably the last real leader of this country.

  3. She was magnificent. What a woman. We were damned luck to have her as our PM.

The cynic in me wonders what bad news has been buried (for want of a better word) this week.

  4. "A giant"... "A great spirit"... "damned lucky".

    She was and we were.

I hope you're wrong, Fausty but understand your cynicism. Most bad news - the eurozone, Cameron/Merkel - has been covered but that's not to say there isn't a nigger in the woodpile.
