"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

The Off-Switch

I'm posting this because it's Easter Monday and I've heard nothing all day except angry people. They're angry on the radio, angry in the press, angry on twitter. Everyone is so angry my brain is beginning to jangle.

If you're angry, do something about it: stop believing everything you're told - find out for yourself; stop whingeing; stop writing Dear Sir letters; stop commenting in the online press; stop, dare I say it, blogging unless you have fresh information to impart. These are just diversions and there comes a time when, if you really stand against what you rant about, you'll have to buy a yardstick to measure the width of your mattress and the height of your barricade.

This evening I'm reaching for the off switch - hope you like it too:

  1. Lovely.

Had it on in the background while I was penning a new rant about the same stuff.

    Just kidding!

    CR.

    1. Cap'n, everything's so serious these days - we're a humourless society with everyone out to grind down another thanks to laws passed by a 13yr Labour govt and continued by the Coalition.

Everybody is angry - except journalists in the msm and MPs.

When it comes, it will be terrible and, even then, people will strike/complain/revolt about the wrong issue.

I hope you're okay and doing well, while you can :)

  2. "These are just diversions"

They are and I feel like that at times. A walk in the hills helps put things back in perspective.

Even so, simply knowing that there are real people out there with a far more critical perspective than the BBC will ever present - that's a plus even if it seems repetitive at times.

    1. You have a point, AK: blogs should hammer home the message, relentlessly and giving no quarter.

      Thank you.
